My name is Kristine Hall and I am on a journey to create vibrant health.
This journey includes my husband and our seven children ages 13 through 25. We are in the process of improving the way we eat, the way we live, and the way we think.
I love to research. Exhaustively. And while I really wish that I had the Vulcan Mind-Meld ability to easily transfer that info to someone else, I don’t. So instead, that knowledge will be communicated primarily via:
- Book reviews.
- Online summit reviews.
- Personally tested DIY recipes and projects.
- Family-tested recipes for your kitchen.
All Advice is Autobiographical. It’s one of my theories that when people give you advice, they’re really just talking to themselves in the past. This book is me talking to a previous version of myself.
–Austin Kleon
That quote is from the introduction of the book, Steal Like an Artist. I agree with Austin’s theory and I have adopted it as my own strategy for writing this blog. What do I wish that I had known last year, five years ago, ten years ago? What have I learned that I want my children to know? What insights am I eager to share with my best friend? Those are the things that I will write about.
Specifically, I thought that we were doing the basic things right:
- eating organic whole grains (freshly ground as needed,of course);
- fresh vegetables;
- pastured organic poultry that we raised ourselves;
- organic eggs from our hens;
- grass-fed beef when we could get it;
- vegetables from our garden during the summer;
- raw green smoothies
regularlya few times a weekoccasionally, - some fruit (not a lot),
- regular exercise until injury put a stop to the routine and the habit was lost
While we were healthier than most, my family and I still experienced various health challenges. It didn’t make sense.
Last fall, my husband and I listened to the audio book, The Wheatbelly Book by William Davis, M.D. and I started to understand where we were going wrong nutritionally. We began to implement a new approach to food a few months later.
The results, so far, are remarkable.
I will use this blog to document our journey toward creating vibrant health – for myself and my family.
I hope you’ll join me.
and because I must include this …
